Title: A Joyous Spring Festival
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional festival in China. It usually falls between late January and mid-February according to the lunar calendar.
As a primary school student, I eagerly await this festive season. It is a time of joy and reunion for my family. Before the Spring Festival, my family is busy with preparations. We clean the house thoroughly, which is called "sweeping the dust," symbolizing a new beginning. My parents decorate the house with red decorations, lanterns, and couplets. Red is considered an auspicious color, symbolizing happiness and prosperity.
On New Year's Eve, all family members gather for a big feast. We enjoy various delicious dishes, but the most significant one is the dumplings. According to tradition, the shape of dumplings resembles ancient Chinese gold ingots, signifying wealth and prosperousness. After dinner, we sit together and enjoy the Spring Festival Gala on TV. It is a grand event where famous actors and artists perform, and it lasts until midnight.
What excites me most is the red envelopes given by elders. They contain money, symbolizing good luck and blessings. I save some for buying books and share the rest with my parents.
The Spring Festival not only strengthens family bonds but also passes down our culture and traditions. It fills me with happiness and hope for the coming year.
